Elementary Principal Welcome!

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger! As a proud graduate of the Class of 1992, I am excited to return to the Howard School District as the Elementary Principal.

I have worked in education for over 20 years, with experience ranging from serving as the director of a daycare/preschool to teaching elementary and special education. For the past four years, I served as the Elementary Principal and Special Education Director at the Lower Brule School District—a position that was both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Dakota State University with a double major in Elementary and Special Education. I then obtained my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from South Dakota State University. I am currently completing my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Special Education and Behavior Management at the University of South Dakota.

My husband and I are remodeling a home here in Howard. We also own a farm and ranch just north of White Lake. Together, we've built a blended family of eight children, including five wonderful in-law children, and seven precious grandchildren who fill our lives with joy.

When I'm not helping on the farm or working with the 4-H cattle, I love reading and bringing new life to old pieces through refurbishing and recreating furniture and home spaces. Whether it's a cozy corner or a vintage find, I find joy in making things beautiful and functional again.

Returning to the Howard School District in an administrative capacity is more than just a career move—it is a heartfelt opportunity to give back to the institution that helped shape my path in education. I am passionate about creating an environment where students and staff feel supported, challenged, and empowered.
