Elementary Principal Welcome!

Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!

As a proud graduate of the Class of 1992, I continue to be honored to serve the Howard School District as the Elementary Principal and Special Education Director. As I begin my second year in this role, I remain grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our outstanding students, staff, families, and community.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles, including director of a daycare/preschool, elementary teacher, special education teacher, and administrator. Before returning to Howard, I spent four years as the Elementary Principal and Special Education Director at the Lower Brule School District, where I gained invaluable experience and strengthened my passion for educational leadership.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Dakota State University with a double major in Elementary and Special Education. I later received my master's degree in Educational Leadership from South Dakota State University and am currently completing my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Special Education and Behavior Management at the University of South Dakota.

My husband and I continue remodeling our home here in Howard. We also own a farm and ranch just north of White Lake. Together, we've built a blended family of eight children, including six wonderful in-law children, and seven precious grandchildren who bring endless joy to our lives.

Outside of school, you'll often find me helping on the farm, working with our 4-H cattle, reading a good book, or refurbishing furniture and home décor. I enjoy finding creative ways to transform old treasures into something both beautiful and functional.

Returning to the Howard School District has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. During my first year, I witnessed firsthand the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our families and community. Those experiences have only strengthened my commitment to ensuring every child receives the support, opportunities, and encouragement they need to succeed. In my role as both Elementary Principal and Special Education Director, I remain committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student can reach their full potential.

One thing you will quickly learn about me is that I am fiercely protective of our students and staff. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and challenged, and every staff member deserves to be respected, supported, and appreciated. I will always advocate for what is best for our school while also being the biggest fan of our students and staff;

celebrating their accomplishments, encouraging their growth, and cheering them on every step of the way.

As we begin another exciting school year, I look forward to building on the successes we've achieved together. My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success, and I value the opportunity to work together.

Together, we will continue to uphold the proud tradition of excellence that has always defined the Howard School District.
