HOWARD POLICY:
College Readiness Courses:
The college readiness course program is intended for students with skill gaps (1-4 points below an institution’s ACT benchmark). College readiness courses are intended to assist students in reaching their goal of being fully prepared to enter into the workforce or a post-secondary institution following high school graduation.

- Available to seniors who have earned the required graduation credits
- Class period will be online as part of the senior student’s required six period day
- Coursework will be provided through South Dakota Virtual School https://sdvs.k12.sd.us/Students/CollegeReadiness.aspx 
- No credit will be received for completion of the coursework
- Students MUST take as a “6 -month” course and may take one each semester
- Student MUST provide a progress report to administration every three weeks
- Student is responsible for class fees
- Class time will not be part of open campus privileges
*Students must pay for their courses and take the ACCUPLACER test before starting the course. If they are not prepared by the deadline, they will have to add a regular class onto their schedules and take the remedial classes outside of the school day.
