Some scholarship applications are due as early as December. You can apply to a school and apply for scholarships, even if you haven't made a final decision. If you decide not to attend a particular school, the scholarship goes back to the school.

Dakota State University has several endowed scholarships that pertain to Howard students. Students need to fill out the general scholarship application by March 1 to be eligible. The scholarships are: the Patrick R. Maroney Scholarship (Howard), the Grasser Family Scholarship (Howard), the Deb and Greg Reed Annual Scholarship (Lake and Miner Co.), the Harvey Family Memorial Scholarship (Lake, Miner, and Moody Co.), the Frederick Krueger Scholarship (Lake, Kingsbury, Miner, Moody, Minnehaha, or Brookings Co.), the Alyce Lundberg Memorial Scholarship (Elem. Ed. major living within 100 miles of Madison, SD), and the Evergreen Masonic Lodge Scholarship.
